Graphics for play space design
Ric Mcconaghy designs amazing naturalistic play spaces for kids with all abilities. Check out his web site at https://www.rmpl.com.au/ As part of this process we take Ric's hand drawn concept plans and create documents suitable for the community to use to understand the design of the play space. By keeping to these "traditional" methods Ric makes sure the magic flows throughout the whole design process from community consultation to completion of the building of the play space.
If you like Ric's website that's great because I also designed and maintained his site for many years.
You may notice in the picture an Auslan panel with "Bb blow up". Adding accessibility elements to playspaces is an important part of Ric's design process. Together we put together the design and framework for these Auslan Panels. These panels, generally letters and associated words from A to Z, were then manufactured along with the correct Braille characters and placed throughout the playspace in a similar fashion to the one shown here.
QR code panels and associated stories are another interactive "technology" element added to Ric's playspace designs. The children scan the code and a web page (some with animation) is displayed with a story. An example of these codes and their associated landing pages can be see here. Dragonflies - Dragonflies Landing Page
In addition to QR codes and Auslan we also developed an animation project for Western Sydney Parklands that explores the senses. The associated landing page may be seen here. Senses (try tapping on the persons forehead, you will see a page on "balance" and a small animation)
All this work mostly utilises my skills with the Adobe suit of publishing products.
